CyberOwl, whose technology could help safeguard critical national infrastructure from cyber-physical attacks, have been selected by the UK government to demonstrate its technology at the US Department for Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology (S&T) Cybersecurity and Innovation Showcase 2019.The Showcase focuses on the research and development priorities of the DHS in enhancing its cyber security capabilities across its operations and support components. International Partner countries, including the UK, are each invited to present only one of their top cyber security innovations at the conference each year, and CyberOwl has been selected for this exclusive position for 2019.

During the three-day event, CyberOwl will demonstrate how their product, Medulla, uses technology to help critical national infrastructure organisations predict and prioritise where to take action against cyber-physical threats to their connected industrial systems. Daniel Ng, CEO at CyberOwl, will present how Medulla is helping utilities and maritime organisations protect themselves against attempts to degrade the integrity and availability of such systems. A report by Kaspersky Lab shows that more than 40% of industrial control system computers were attacked by malicious software at least once during the first half of 2018. This threat landscape is expected to increase in both size and complexity.

DHS’ mission covers a wide range of areas involving industrial systems, including the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), United States Coast Guard (USCG) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

CEO of CyberOwl, Dan Ng, said “this event is where the leading cybersecurity innovators in the US and across the globe gather to discuss important advancements that are needed to protect critical national infrastructure. To be selected as the one company to represent the UK is a real privilege and provides CyberOwl with a platform to demonstrate the really important work that we are doing.”
