Security analyst

What is the role we are recruiting for and primary responsibilities?

Cyberowl is currently recruiting for an experienced Security Analyst to work closely with their Chief Information Office and the Cyber Threat Analyst Team. The position is ideal for a candidate who has had exposure to IT Security and System Administration, so they are able to understand the work undertaken by our customers, and improve upon the status quo. The candidate will be a critical part of CyberOwl’s product development roadmap, as well as part of the customer project delivery team.

Although we are looking for a candidate with solid, hands on experience of being a systems administrator in an operational capacity, the role requires someone to take the skills they have honed to date in order to improve what we have built here at CyberOwl. As such, the role will be one for a problem solver, who can take the practical knowledge they have from their career to-date and apply it to a cybersecurity infrastructure platform.

This type of experience typically comes from a System Admin / Support role and so if you have had exposure to investigative work and / or regularly have to troubleshoot incidents by trawling through logs then that's what we are looking for at CyberOwl. As this is nascent technology, the ideal candidate will expect to use their skills to overcome unknown unknowns around implementation and integration challenges, therefore inventive thinking and intuition will be key skills to bring to the discussion. This is a fulltime role and would ideally suit a self-starter and creative thinker looking to make their mark in a VC-backed start-up.

  • Able to hunt down problems using a variety of tools and solve them logically – almost certainly relying on a varied skill set with high degree of tenacity and resilience
  • Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Virtualisation
  • Networking infrastructure (Routers and Switches)
  • Firewalls, IDS and IPS
  • Manipulate and collate system log files,
  • Review logs from Routers, Switches, Firewalls, IDS and IPS

What other qualities should the candidate have?

  • Highly organised, highly motivated
  • Doer, hands on, problem solver
  • Resourceful “builder”
  • Embraces entrepreneurial working environments
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
